Second Sunday Salon
A salon, in the tradition of the French, is a gathering of men and women to participate in informal discussion centered around a specific topic. A salonnière, the woman who ran the salon, decided upon its central preoccupation which may include politics, literature, art, fashion or business. This type of gathering was held in the drawing room (salon in French) of the salonnière's home. The participants sought to increase their knowledge through conversation and readings.
The Second Sunday Salon at the Red Door was born out of the requests of members to have an opportunity to discuss the topics that came up during the Sunday services and to spend social time with their tribe. We hold the salons in the comfy basement at The Gypsy House Café at 1279 Marion Street in Denver. Salons begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at 5:30. Please come early to purchase a cup of tea or coffee and pastries. We ask for a suggested donation of $10.
