Message Movement Shoes

Q. What is a Sunday service like?

It works! Sunday services at The Red Door are held at 6:30 PM in the evening on the first and third Sundays of every month and usually last 90 minutes to 2 hours. Most people arrive shortly at 5:45 pm to have time for to get an energy healing or massage and to socialize with their friends before the service. Though every service is different in flavor, you’ll always experience the same basic format: firstly a message, then guided movement and dance, and finally a guided meditation.

Q. What sort of music will I hear at The Red Door?

We are fans of all music that promotes fun and healing, but we’re particularly fond of the underground electronic music scene, and Indie Rock that was written with positive intention. Our DJs are always happy to receive donations of music to use in the mix and are always open to submissions of tracks that are particularly effective to meditate with.

Q. What if I’m not comfortable with dancing?

The movement portion of our service is based in the idea of “somatic integration”: that it is most effective to combine the experience of our senses, our body and our minds to grasp and remember wisdom teachings.

Our movement leaders guide the group to “follow the leader” with body motions that are simple, flowing and do not require the skill of an experienced dancer. The movement portion is more about meditating in your body than to display your dancing skills for others.
